Erik Desmazières - La Bibliothèque de Babel
Erik Desmazieres’s fascination with the subject of books and libraries first came into view with a series of prints created in 1997 to illustrate The Library of Babel. "La Bibliothèque de Babel" is one of the most famous stories by Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges. The first etchings were originally done for a fine press book for Le Livre Contermporain and Les Bibliophiles Franco-Suisses. The etchings were then further developed and issued as a portfolio of loose prints. Both the book and portfolio versions are included in significant museum and private collections throughout the world.
