Robert's work is mostly a reflection of mood, mystery, emotion and memory, often active and bold, sometimes quiet and contemplative. his intention is to use gesture, color, texture and contrast to uncover a new, hidden beauty in form and line. These monoprints attempt to capture the tension of various visual elements, often suggesting fragility and a tentative balance. The work is intended to appeal to the curious. He said that "I would prefer the viewer study and question rather than simply enjoy. The ultimate interpretation is left to the looking.”
